English | This article shows the development of the diagnostic study of the waste generated in the La Perlita Laboratory Complex located in Puente Roto 2, San Luisito, Guanajuato, Gto., Mexico, for this purpose, interviews were applied, selecting in a non-probabilistic way the personnel in charge of cleaning, obtaining information regarding the current management of municipal solid waste (MSW) generated in the place. Likewise, the results of the identification of the areas that make up the whole complex are presented, as well as the current material dedicated to management. A study of the characterization of the MSW was carried out from May 13 to 24 of the current year. Waste whose bags had a representative weight difference of 58.8% due to the decrease in the school population at the study site was characterized. The waste included aluminum, cardboard, PET, organic waste, unicell, glass, nitrile gloves used in the laboratories, blisters, Petri dishes, plastic, mouth covers, office paper, aluminum packaging, metal, particulate material, and toilet paper, the latter being the most generated, with an average weight of ±4kg per week. Finally, the relevant estimates were made of the weights generated projected for a week, a month, a semester or half a year (six months) and a year, where the results show an annual estimate of MSW of ±690,750kg. This diagnosis shows that there is a deficiency in the current management of waste and that it is necessary to implement adequate measures to improve the management and use of MSW. | en |
