| es_MX |

English | At the time when Mexico City began to experience an unprecedented expansion of its urban footprint during the second half of the 19th century, and in particular during the Porfiriato, in medium-sized cities, like Oaxaca city, the dynamism that was taking place in other cities was not equally registered; that was because until the middle of the aforementioned century still retained its colonial trace without major alterations. Nevertheless, a few years after the closing of that century, the first urban colony of the city was founded: a project that was raised from the City Council with the purpose of expanding the city and making business with the land, formerly agricultural. While the Díaz Ordaz colony had a peculiar origin, however, it adds up to the experience of the urban processes that other Mexican cities of the time had experienced. | es_MX |
