dc.description.abstractEl cultivo de caña de azúcar involucra gran diversidad de plaguicidas. Por tanto, se requiere conocer su estatus de uso e identificar el nivel de riesgo en la salud de la población ocupacionalmente expuesta. El objetivo fue identificar los plaguicidas utilizados en los últimos 30 años en este agroecosistema en el Distrito de Riego 035 “La Antigua”, Veracruz, México, y sus efectos potenciales en salud humana. En el año 2011 se realizó una revisión de archivos históricos y se aplicó una encuesta a productores de los ingenios El Modelo y La Gloria. Se registraron los plaguicidas utilizados del año 1980 al 2012. Se documentó la aplicación de 28 ingredientes activos. Destacan los insecticidas carbofurán y monocrotofós y los herbicidas triazinas, 2,4-D y metano arsonato monosodio. Los plaguicidas utilizados a la fecha tienen efecto en la salud humana como disrupción endócrina e inmunitaria, daños al sistema nervioso central y periférico, y carcinogénesis.es_MX

dc.description.abstractEnglishSugarcane crop involves a wide variety of pesticides. Therefore, there is a need to know their status of use and to identify their health risk on the occupationally exposed population. The aim was to identify pesticides used during the last 30 years on this agroecosystem, in the Irrigation District 035 “La Antigua”, Veracruz, Mexico, and its potential effects on human health. A search of historical data along with a survey among farmers in the Modelo and Gloria mills were carried out in 2011. Twenty-eight different active ingredients have been applied from 1980 to 2012. Carbofuran and monocrotophos as well as herbicides, such as triazine, 2, 4-D and monosodium methyl arsenate, had been the most common used insecticides. Pesticides used are closely related to induce immune and endocrine disruption, damage to the peripheral and central nervous systems, and carcinogenesis in humans.en
